Traaly ("we," "us," or "our") is a group trip planning app available at traaly.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. We wrote this in plain English on purpose.
What We Collect
When you use Traaly, we may collect the following:
- Account info — your email address and display name, provided when you sign in through Google, Apple, or a magic link.
- Profile photo — if you upload one or we receive one from your sign-in provider.
- Interview responses — when you chat with DollyBot (our AI trip host), your answers are stored. This includes things like personality traits, memories, humor style, food preferences, and other fun personal details you share.
- Photos and EXIF data — photos you upload may contain metadata including GPS coordinates, timestamps, and camera info. We extract and store location data from photo EXIF metadata to enable location-based features.
- Rhinestone transactions — your history of earning and spending rhinestones (our virtual currency).
- Usage data — how you interact with the app, including pages visited and features used.
How We Use Your Data
- Trip planning — to power group features like voting, itinerary building, and activity suggestions.
- Personalization— to tailor DollyBot's responses, suggestions, and humor to you personally.
- AI processing— your conversations with DollyBot and interview responses are sent to Google Gemini (Google's AI) for processing. This helps DollyBot understand your preferences and generate personalized responses.
- Photo features — location data from photos may be used for map-based features, photo reveals, and trip memories.
- Rhinestone economy — to track your virtual currency balance and transaction history.
- App improvement — to understand how people use Traaly and make it better.
AI Data Processing
DollyBot is powered by Google Gemini. When you chat with DollyBot or complete the onboarding interview, your messages are sent to Google's servers for AI processing. Google may process this data according to their own privacy policies. We store your conversation history and the personality profile DollyBot builds from your responses.
Where Your Data Lives
- Supabase — account data, profiles, interview responses, rhinestone transactions, and app data are stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database.
- Google Cloud Storage — uploaded photos are stored in Google Cloud Storage.
- Vercel — the app is hosted on Vercel, which may collect standard analytics data.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may receive or process your data:
- Google — sign-in authentication, AI processing (Gemini), and photo storage (Cloud Storage).
- Apple — sign-in authentication.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and backend services.
- Vercel — app hosting and analytics.
Children's Privacy
Traaly is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may use Traaly only with parental or guardian consent. Our invitation-only model ensures that minors only join when a parent or guardian has invited them and approved their participation. Parents or guardians of minor users may contact us at any time to review, modify, or delete their child's data.
Cookies
Traaly uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication (keeping you signed in) and basic app functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. When you request deletion, we will:
- Delete your profile and account data
- Delete your interview responses and AI-generated personality data
- Delete your uploaded photos from cloud storage
- Remove your rhinestone transaction history
Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period, but will not be actively used.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can also request a copy of the data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you through the app. Your continued use of Traaly after changes means you accept the updated policy.
